The Purpose of Psychotherapy is to set people free

Ashika Bridglall Psychotherapy & Psychological Services

I am a professional psychologist and psychotherapist offering a wide range of psychological and psychotherapy services to help individuals improve their mental health and well-being. My expertise includes psychotherapy, counselling, assessments, and evidence-based interventions for various mental health concerns.

ABOUT ME

Professionally

I am a South African trained and qualified Senior Psychologist working as a mental health professional within the Irish Health and Disability sector. I am a registered Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and a registered Psychologist with the Health and Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

I have a strong background in Adult Mental Health, Early Services, HIV/AIDS Counselling, as well as Psychotherapy and Counselling. My clinical skills span across diverse work with a population presenting with dual diagnosis, intellectual disability, and mental health issues. I have experience working with clients across the developmental lifespan from 5 to 80 years of age.

I have experience working with a wide range of issues, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, relationship difficulties, loss, bereavement, trauma and work or academic related issues.

Personally

In school, always finding myself the confidante of friends and my natural curiosity about people, I decided to become a psychologist. The opportunities to travel and work in various parts of the world, meet souls that have contributed to my life in meaningful ways, has strengthened my belief in the human spirit and my choice of career path.

After training in South Africa, I moved to the wonderful island of New Zealand, finally settling in the welcoming island of Ireland, with my husband.

I identify as cisgendered and use the pronouns she/her.

My Approach

I have worked in the Public Health and Education systems in South Africa, New Zealand, and Ireland. This has allowed me to gain exposure and develop my understanding and skills working with diverse and multicultural societies. As a psychotherapist and psychologist, my practice is grounded in an integrative, humanistic perspective, tailoring interventions to the client's specific needs, incorporating psychodynamic, attachment, CBT and trauma informed support models. I seek to support clients to understand how or what has led to a difficulty arising, adopting a holistic view of a person. My approach is collaborative, gentle and curious.

"Being listened to by someone who understands makes it possible for persons to listen more accurately to themselves, with greater empathy towards their own visceral experiencing, their own vaguely felt meanings"- Carl Rogers
